Perhaps your heart and overall health have benefited from his immense skills as a cardiac electro-physiologist.

Or possibly you’ve admired a stand of trees in Davenport that he was responsible for planting, or pruning, or saving.

Then there are the economic development initiatives he has pushed — Rejuvenate Davenport, promotion of the Quad-Cities International Airport, the office park he developed at Interstate 80 and U.S. 61.

There’s no doubt that the Quad-Cities will miss Dr. Mike Giudici and his considerable contributions to the community.

Giudici, at the age of 59, is leaving for new horizons in treating patients, teaching and doing research at the noted Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

He’ll be honored Thursday night at a community roast sponsored by Rejuvenate Davenport, with the proceeds to go toward Scott County Beautification Foundation

As Times reporter Alma Gaul noted in her recent profile of Giudici, there are many other agencies and organizations touched by the fine hand of the doctor — Friendly House, Assumption High School, Community Health Care, Putnam Museum, Quad-City Botanical Center, Genesis Heart Institute, D1 Initiative, River Music Experience and the Davenport Museum of Art.

There are many ways to measure the contributions of a man like Giudici, but one of the most telling comes when people find out he’s leaving the community.

“What will we do without him?”

Fortunately, Mike Giudici, through his passion for professional and personal excellence, has given us a wonderful example to emulate.
